GFI’s email security & antivirus package continues to guarantee reliability in the battle against viruses

GFI announced today that GFI MailSecurity for Exchange/SMTP, its email content security and antivirus solution, has been awarded Antivirus Checkmark Level 1 certification from West Coast Labs for the second year in a row. The certification confirms that GFI MailSecurity, launched last year, continues to meet the Checkmark program’s rigorous standards for detecting in-the-wild viruses.

An antivirus solution that can be relied on
The Checkmark is a dominant global standard of effectiveness for computer security products. Checkmark certification provides a clear indication that a product has attained a relevant standard of security provision. The Antivirus Checkmark consists of an industry-accepted test, conducted by West Coast Labs, to ensure that a product can detect viruses that are causing infections in the real world. This gives an independent indication to end users that the certified antivirus product can be relied on.

This testing procedure is repeated at least every three months and if a product fails to preserve its level of detection, its Checkmark is suspended and even withdrawn if the manufacturer does not improve the product’s detection. The manufacturers of Checkmarked products must therefore make a serious commitment to the quality of their products.

"At West Coast Labs, we are delighted by GFI's resoluteness and serious intent to deliver effective and comprehensive detection of In-the-Wild viruses. This success reflects the company's determination to be one of the leading suppliers of this technology," concludes Chris Thomas, Director of West Coast Labs.
