Greatly reduced admin work for Thomson multimedia Polska with GFI’s security event log monitor

London, UK – GFI’s event log based intrusion detection and event log management software, GFI LANguard S.E.L.M., has drastically reduced administration time and improved server protection at the Polish branch for Thomson, a multinational company catering for media and entertainment industries worldwide. Details are featured in a new case study issued by GFI.

Thomson multimedia Polska was looking for a product which could collect data from a data centre with over 70 servers and 1,700 computers on the network. “We decided to implement an event log monitoring system in order to improve the protection of our servers’ environment and to simplify administration by automatic filtering and alerting of critical events,” explained Janusz Grudzien, IT Security Officer at Thomson multimedia Polska Sp. z o.o. "Monitoring the system is part of a security policy based on ISO 9001 and BS 7799 standards that we implemented in our department."  Thomson multimedia Polska required a product that would be able to automatically select critical events and send email alerts to administrators. In addition, it had to be easy to configure and maintain.

Great savings on administrator time thanks to event log filtering
GFI LANguard S.E.L.M. exceeded the company’s criteria: “GFI LANguard S.E.L.M version 5.0 met our demands related to technical specifications at an optimal price,” said Mr. Grudzien. “The product is working perfectly, sending only important information to our administrators instead of millions of low importance events collected in the logs. Before implementing GFI LANguard S.E.L.M. we had to spend many hours looking for critical information in logs. Now we only spend a few minutes for that!”
