London, UK – GFI, an international developer of network security, content security and messaging software, today announced that its award-winning events monitoring and events management solution GFI EventsManager™ 8 has achieved ‘Certified for Windows Server 2008’ status.

Windows Server 2008 Certification comprises approximately 100 test cases that independently confirm an application's compliance with best practices for compatibility, security, reliability, and availability, on the new platform. The certification identifies top-performing technologies that are ready to deploy in mission-critical environments.

As a participant in the Microsoft Early Access Program (EAP) for Windows Server 2008 Software Certification, GFI EventsManager was one of more than 300 applications that were eligible for certification on a pre-release version of the new platform.

“GFI is a leading innovator and has developed solutions that take advantage of Windows Server 2008 key advances in security, networking and core foundation,” said Steve Bell, senior product manager, Windows Server Marketing at Microsoft. “Our mutual customers have the assurance to deploy GFI EventsManager with confidence on Windows Server 2008.”

“We are very pleased that GFI EventsManager, one of our leading network security products, has been awarded the Certified for Windows Server 2008 status. This award, in time for the official launch of the new platform, is the result of a huge team effort to develop what we believe is an outstanding product,” Andre Muscat, Director of Engineering at GFI said.

"Windows Server 2008 is the most advanced Windows Server operating system, designed to power the next-generation of networks, applications, and Web services. With Windows Server 2008, and also Vista, Microsoft overhauled its events management system and this provided us with the opportunity to develop a new version of GFI EventsManager that not only takes the changes effected by Microsoft into consideration but allowed us to extend the product’s capabilities, thereby giving our customers great control, improved security and greater value for money. This certification further validates GFI’s ability to develop and deliver best-of-breed solutions that meet our customers' need for quality solutions that address their network security problems," Muscat added.

GFI EventsManager 8 is an award-winning events monitoring, management and archiving solution that supports a wide range of event types such as W3C, Windows events, Syslogs and, in the latest version, SNMP traps generated by devices such as firewalls, routers and sensors. Providing support for devices from the top 20 manufacturers in the world as well as custom devices, GFI EventsManager allows you to monitor an extended range of hardware products, report on the health and operational status of each one and collect data for analysis. Companies can also track employee activity on the network such as changes made to their PCs, files accessed during the day as well as meet legal and regulatory compliance such as SOX, PCI DSS, HIPAA and much more.
