Taiwan YAMAHA Motor uses GFI WebMonitor multiple antivirus solution as protection against internet viruses and malware

London, UK – Yamaha Motor Taiwan Co. Ltd, which forms part of the worldwide YAMAHA group, has implemented GFI WebMonitor™ WebSecurity edition to prevent its computer networks from being infected with viruses and malicious material downloaded from the Internet. GFI, an international developer of network security, content security and messaging software, has today issued a case study detailing this set-up.

When Yamaha Motor Taiwan Co. Ltd noticed that some employees were accessing the internet in breach of security policy, but it was unable to take action because there was no trace of the culprits, the company decided to implement a firewall to monitor employee behavior. After trying various set-ups, the company installed Microsoft ISA Server but wanted another software package to increase the level of security.

"When we decided on our Microsoft ISA Server anti-virus engine, our main purpose was to prevent our computer networks from being infected with viruses downloaded while browsing sites infected with malicious payloads, and it was important to have 2 to 3 layers of anti-virus protection installed on our mail server, client ports and server ports," said YAMAHA Group Demeng Information Management Consultant Mr. Yao Chen.

YAMAHA's information technology department decided to source the most suitable anti-virus software that could integrate well with Microsoft ISA Server and they choose GFI WebMonitor for its performance, user-friendly management console and reporting capabilities.

“The multiple anti-virus engines in GFI WebMonitor for Microsoft ISA Server have produced striking results as its engine updates can detect worm and phishing websites immediately. This clearly showed that the GFI multiple anti-virus engine approach is effective to secure companies' networks from the spread of viruses,” Mr. Chen added.
