GFI Software appoints new Vice-President of Finance

February 26, 2009 - 12:00

GFI Software, a leading email and security software provider, has announced the appointment of Josef Calleja as Vice-President of Finance.

With over 15 years’ experience in the finance sector, Josef joined GFI in 2005 as the EMEA Financial Controller with a brief to build the Finance Department from scratch. Today, Josef manages the group’s corporate finance function which also includes order processing and business operations in general. GFI sells in over 100 countries worldwide with other offices in US and UK.

Keeping control of the group’s finances and internal controls, whilst dealing with different tax regimes, accounting standards and time-zones is certainly not an easy task. Josef has consolidated the worldwide finance and sales order processing functions in Malta which has helped to increase the already important role of the Maltese Headquarters.

Having started his career in the financial services industry, he has gained vast experience with businesses ranging from start-ups to those having complex group accounting and tax structures. Prior to joining GFI, Josef served as group finance manager in the manufacturing industry where he gained in-depth knowledge of cost and management accounting and, most importantly, of IT.

“This is an important role within GFI and a position that requires all-round expertise not only in finance but also a thorough understanding of how a modern, technology business operates. His promotion to vice-president reflects his abilities and expertise in such an important area and his contribution to GFI over the past three years,” GFI’s CEO Walter Scott said.
