Multi-layered email protection solution delivers a new generation of mail security and defence
GFI Software™ has announced the release today of GFI MailEssentials 2014, the latest generation of the company’s multi award-winning email security solution for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The solution features robust anti-spam functionality, and uses up to five virus detection engines – including VIPRE and BitDefender™ – for added robustness and accuracy.
Building on its heritage of anti-spam, anti-phishing and email-based malware attack protection, the latest release of GFI MailEssentials adds additional functionality aimed at simplifying the email security management process for both IT professionals and end users, reducing the burden created by legitimate email that exhibits characteristics mimicked by spam and phishing scams.
New features include SpamTag, an add-on for Microsoft Outlook that allows Exchange and conventional users to tag emails as ‘spam’ or ‘not spam’ from within Outlook, providing users with much more control over their own email environment and the ability to manage safe and questionable messages; a new IP Blocklist AntiSpam plugin for email admins that allows them to update GFI MailEssentials 2014 with the IP Addresses of ‘spammy’, compromised or malicious SMTP servers so that emails originating from these servers are deleted or quarantined before they reach users inboxes; and a powerful new web-based dashboard to simplify email management and quarantine control.
GFI Mail Essentials 2014 supports a wide range of email server and client platforms including Microsoft® Exchange 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, and Lotus® Domino®, along with support for the latest Windows iterations – Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
